The Jacksonville Film Festival (JFF) in the US is scheduled to host Iranian short ‘The Recess’.

Written, produced and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, the film will be screened at the special Iran to Jax Shorts section of the event.

The short film tells the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club.

Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.

Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are on the cast list.

Founded in 2002, the mission of the JFF is to “celebrate motion pictures by discovering and showcasing new talents to rejuvenate the film industry by creating an atmosphere that immerses the filmmakers with their audience and community.”

The festival is an opportunity for filmmakers to be recognized for their cinematic achievements while creating an event to reward the best works submitted to the festival.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for February 4-6.
